We're Here to Help You Thrive

At the ASPYA (Aspiring Young Africans) Foundation, we know that individual mentorship is only one piece of the puzzle. To truly break the cycle of disadvantage and create a thriving pipeline of future leaders, we must also address the systemic barriers that young African-Australians face.

Our Research and Advocacy arm is dedicated to driving long-term, structural change. By partnering with like-minded organizations, state governments, local councils, and educational institutions, we are actively shaping the future we want to see.

Our Advocacy Priorities

We advocate for policies and practices that ensure African-Australian youth have the network, resources, and safe environments needed to succeed. Our key focus areas include:

Educational Equity & Inclusion

We advocate for schooling environments that honor cultural identity. Through our formal partnerships with educational institutions, we provide cultural training for teachers to ensure classrooms are equipped to understand and uplift African-Australian students.

Community Infrastructure & Safe Spaces

We actively engage with local councils and governments to secure and invest in dedicated safe spaces where young people can connect, learn, and grow. Having a secure environment is essential for community building and personal development

Economic Opportunity & Pathways

We believe that ignoring young talent leaves them stranded and stalls community progress. We advocate for professional mentoring programs and practical opportunities that translate into real economic advancement and leadership roles.

Evidence-Based Action

Action is at the core of our identity—Aspiring means we are doing the work and actively acting on our goals. Our advocacy is grounded in the lived experiences of our diverse team of young professionals and the communities we serve.

By continuously gathering insights from our grassroots engagement, school programs, and collaborative mentorship efforts with groups like the Faithful Coalition, we ensure our advocacy is directly tied to the real, immediate needs of young people. We translate these on-the-ground realities into actionable strategies for the government bodies and educational institutions we partner with.

Partner With Us for Change

The investment we make today shapes the community we live in tomorrow. ASPYA is a registered charity with DGR1 status, and we are always looking to collaborate with those who genuinely care about our community and are ready to roll up their sleeves and do the work.
